Ramblings from the road and the studio
Cops and DJs
11 Apr 2004
Late last week I returned home from five shows throughout the Midwest, brother sean's first mini tour! Beyond meeting some really interesting people and listening to lots of good music (like the Harpist who played before me at Canal Street in Dayton, OH) the most memorable moment for me was my radio interview with Chicago State U. I was driving through W. Virginia and pulled my Vanagon off the side of the road to prepare for the interview (also cell reception sucks in WV). The DJ from the station calls and says that he's gonna put me on hold and when he comes back on the line we will be on air. Ok, so about 30 seconds pass and right as the DJ comes back on the line I look in my rear view mirror and what da ya know a state trooper is about 3 ft from my window. So on the air I tell the DJ to hold on for a second cause I got to talk to a police officer, then I tell the officer that my Vanagon, surprisingly enough, isn't broken down and that I'm just talking on the phone. Anyway everything works out fine and the officer leaves but it did come across very rock n' roll on the air.
